Ghana: Kente Cloth

A Ghana football concept grounded in the structure, colour and symbolism of Kente cloth.

Black Ghana away-shirt concept with colourful Kente-inspired trim

Starting point

A Ghana away-shirt concept rooted in Kente cloth. The research board brings together woven textiles, traditional clothing and the making process.

Design decisions

Bright geometric bands sit around the neckline and sleeve cuffs of a black shirt. A quieter tonal pattern covers the body, allowing the saturated trim and white chest marks to stand out. The digital development view compares the garment on the body with its flat pattern pieces.

Outcome

The presentation connects cultural references, digital garment development and a standalone textile graphic with the final shirt concept. The contrast between a dark body and vivid trim carries the textile reference into a football format.
